Wonder Lands

Projects

This project took place in Summer 2024.

Wonder is connection, open, respectful, aware.
Wonder is love for our land, in nature we are in awe.
Wonder is being part of a pattern, within something greater.
Wonder always moves forward, curious, discovering.
In wonder we connect.
A family is severed across space and time;
lovers are scattered across divided galaxies.
Can they find the wonder that will bind them and repair the rift?

Wonder Lands was a participatory art project fusing cycling and theatre making. At its core sat the question: how can we cultivate a state of wonder from which to make new work? Through exploring of the Forth and Clyde Canal by bike, participants discovered wonder within their local landscape, using their connection to nature as inspiration to generate ideas. Wonder Lands was the outcome of Roisin McLinden’s Community Artist Residency with National Theatre Scotland as part of The Neighbourhood Project.

A short documentary film produced and directed by Humble Film productions illustrating the creative process of Wonder Lands was shown at Pinkston Watersports 10th Birthday Gala Day on Saturday 3rd August 2024.
