About Suba Das
Suba Das is an award-winning theatre Director, Producer and Dramaturg with a dynamic creative career most recently as Creative Director at Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse, previously as Artistic Director and Chief Executive for new writing company HighTide, and as Associate Director at Leicester Curve, Resident Director at the National Theatre Studio and for English Touring Theatre.
His many notable directing credits include Top Girls by Caryl Churchill for Liverpool Everyman, the world premieres of Wipers by Ishy Din and Pink Sari Revolution by Purva Naresh, the European premiere of Shiv by Aditi Brennan Kapil, and new productions of Abigail’s Party and The Cat In The Hat (with Rose Theatre Kingston and the National Centre for Circus Arts) for Leicester Curve.
Suba has directed for many major UK Theatres including the Young Vic, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Octagon Bolton, Northern Stage, Nottingham Playhouse, the Roundhouse; and internationally at The Vineyard Theater, New York and the National Centre for Performing Arts, Mumbai.
For opera, Suba directed the world premiere of Sukanya, by the legendary Ravi Shankar, for the Royal Opera in co-production with the London Philharmonic and BBC Singers, it was revived in 2020 at the Southbank. Born in Newcastle, he read English at Cambridge University and trained on the prestigious Birkbeck MFA in Theatre Directing, and in 2023 completed the Directors’ Series at the National Film and Television School.
Suba is on the board of The Theatres Trust and is a Trustee of the North Music Trust.
