Olivier nominated both as actor and producer Patrick Ryecart's London debut was in Bernard Shaws Candida opposite Scottish Hollywood royalty Deborah Kerr in 1977. The Sunday Times wrote that he "may become what Richard Burton might have been". Patrick has gratefully achieved that by only marrying once surviving past 60 and still able to enjoy a cocktail..
Leading classical roles in Shaw Sheridan Shakespeare and Wilde, incude The Millionairess with Raquel Welch, Arms and the Man, The Rivals for the National Theatre (and the BBC) Romeo in the BBC's ambitious mounting of the entire Shakespeare works, and A Midsummer Nights Dream. Other London theatre includes Lord Goring in Peter Hall's An Ideal Husband, The Beastly Beatitudes of Balthazar B with Billy Connolly which he also produced and which gave Billy his first West End role; The Dover Road, Untitled, See You Next Tuesday, Another Country, A Life in The Theatre and High Society in the Bing Crosby role at the Victoria Palace. As a producer he created "Jus Like That! " at the Garrick Theatre (directing the the tour and the Edinburgh Festival) and Fatal Attraction at the Haymarket directed by Trevor Nunn.
Much UK and US tv includes The Chronicles of Indiana Jones, My Son My Son, Lace, Jennys War, Arthur and the Sword, Goldeneye, Camille,Silas Marner, Mnder, Rumpole of the Bailey, Trainer, Beautiful Lies, A Chance to Dance, Rumpole, Lovejoy, The Professionals, Midsomer Murders, Poirot, Poldark and The High Life - as Captain Duff.
His last musical was Cal McCrystals Paris revival of Sondheims "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum"
Feature films include A Bridge Too Far, ( Richard Attenborough) Dr. Martinu, Prisoner of Honour ( both with Ken Russell) Twenty One, Silver Dream Racer, Tai Pan, Heart of Darkness ( Nic Roeg) and Tom Hoopers multi award winning The Kings Speech.
Patrick lives in Oxfordshire frequently raided by many grandchildren. He is continually busy for the next adventure, while developing a new musical and a film script.
