About Mairi McGillivray
Mairi McGillivray is a Gaelic singer from the island of Islay off the west coast of Scotland. Mairi comes from a strong Gaelic background and uses her heritage along with her dynamic range of musical influences to put her own style on songs from her tradition, performing in Gaelic and other traditional styles as well as self-penned songs. Her ethereal voice takes you on a journey with each story.
Mairi has performed at various venues and festivals across the UK and Europe including, Celtic Connections, The Reeling, Jura Music Festival, EDF and Under Canvas. Mairi graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2020 and has since won a prestigious Danny Kyle Award in January 2021 and was a finalist in BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2023.
Mairi’s much anticipated debut album, Mo Thìr will be released in July 2026 with grounding in songs from and about her native Islay. Joined by host of acclaimed musicians and produced by John Lowrie, it is set to bring old and new songs to life with their captivating style.
