About Carla J. Easton
Carla J. is the indomitable Princess of DIY Pop with a Post-Punk Ethos, fast emerging as one of Scotland's significant voices and prolific writers from Glasgow’s rich musical landscape.
She started out writing in the now cult-like Futuristic Retro Champions before founding the Spector-esque Girl-Group Teencanteen. 2016 saw the release of 2 critically acclaimed albums – TeenCanteen's Say It All With A Kiss (Longlisted for the Scottish Album of The Year 2017) and her debut solo album Homemade Lemonade released under the alias ‘Ette’ (Bandcamp's #4 Album of 2016).
In 2017, Easton worked with producer Howard Bilerman to record her sophomore solo studio album Impossible Stuff (Olive Grove Records, 2018), and in 2018 she released Best Friend on the Belle & Sebastian How To Solve Our Human Problems EP (Part 3) (Matador Records), a song Easton co-wrote with Stuart Murdoch, and on which sings lead vocals.
She has also written for BMX Bandits, and collaborated with The Scottish Opera for BBC Arts.Easton has performed across many key festivals and showcases both in the UK and Internationally, including The Great Escape, Edinburgh International Festival, Celtic Connections, Kendal Calling, Xpo North, Festival No. 6, Indietracks, T in The Park, Electric Fields, POP! Montreal and Indiefjord with 7 live sessions for BBC 6Music.
