Overview
The Neighbourhood Variety Show- Sauchiehall Street seeks to re-imagine the tradition of variety shows through inviting local people and performers to take to the stage in a celebration of one of Glasgow’s most famous promenades.
It seeks to transform the stage into a truly civic space where community can be felt, experienced, and celebrated by a diverse array of short performances made in collaboration with local people and frequent visitors.
This exciting celebration of variety will feature performances from Overdrive Dance Company, The Mission Voices Choir, drag performers Mona Mae and Karyn Tyne, and ex variety show dancer Jess Fitzpatrick.
The Neighbourhood Variety Show - Sauchiehall Street will take place at The Garage (G2) on 5 June 2025.
At its core, The Neighbourhood Variety Show is about re-negotiating the theatre as a site for community, connection, and care - creating a joyous space for people to come into contact with each other and an invigorated sense of civic spirit.
The Neighbourhood Variety Show is a performance project by Eoin McKenzie (Artist In Residence: Communities) as part of the National Theatre of Scotland’s Neighbourhood Project.
