About Lawrence Smith
Lawrence grew up in the Highlands village of Kingussie, and then Stirling, before going on to study classical singing at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He later achieved his master’s degree in musical theatre at the Royal Academy of Music. Scenes for Survival will be his National Theatre of Scotland debut. Other theatre work includes Avenue Q (UK Tour), Brass (Union Theatre - Offie Award Nomination, Male Performance in a Supporting Role), The Divide (The Old Vic), From Page to Stage (Southwark Playhouse), All The Angels (Shakespeare’s Globe), Sweeney Todd (Royal Academy of Music/Theatre Royal Stratford East), Dr Ferret’s Bad Medicine Roadshow (Scottish Opera/Citizens Theatre). Concerts include Bernstein’s Mass (Royal Festival Hall), Bicentenary Gala (The Old Vic), Villages: A Song Cycle (The Other Palace), Friday Night Is Music Night (BBC Radio 2).
