About Kevin Ferris
Kevin is a trumpet player and educator with over thirty years of international performance experience across jazz, big band, musical theatre, and cruise entertainment. Whilst at school, he played with Fife Youth Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Richard Michael, which shaped his musical direction and led to a life-long love of jazz and big band music.
Kevin has worked with the Tommy Samson Big Band, Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, BBC Big Band, Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Glenn Miller Orchestra UK, Joe Loss Orchestra, Fife Jazz Orchestra, Commonwealth Jazz Orchestra, Symphonic Ibiza, Scottish Pops Orchestra, and the Edinburgh International Jazz Festival Orchestra, led by jazz legend Joe Temperley.
Kevin has backed many of the world's leading entertainers, including The Four Tops and The Temptations, Donna Summer, Barry White, The Platters, Joe Longthorne, Shirley Bassey, Dionne Warwick, and Burt Bacharach. He is a respected educator, acting as a tutor for Richard Michael's Jazz Summer School for over ten years. He is also Musical Director of the Inverkeithing Community Big Band, where he leads performances, workshops, and educational projects.
His extensive musical theatre credits include major UK touring productions such as Sunshine on Leith, Me and My Girl, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, High School Musical, Hairspray, Sister Act, 9 to 5, High Society, Singin’ in the Rain, Bugle Boy, Cabaret, White Christmas(Pitlochry Festival Theatre), The Commitments, The Producers, The Glenn Miller Story, Calendar Girls, Berlin Berlin, Funny Girl, Guys & Dolls, 42nd Street. Most recently he toured the UK with Chicago and played for Glasgow King’s panto. He is delighted to be part of The High Life tour.
