Josefa is a French writer-director and editor who made Scotland her home more than a decade ago. She blends genres to create stories that balance the bizarre with the heartfelt, with a strong interest in atypical female characters who feel out of place.

After her Screen Academy Scotland graduation film Event Horizon (2015), she was commissioned by the Scottish Film Talent Network for her short film Tomorrow Might Be The Day (2018). Both films secured co-production with France.

Since then she has received early development funding from SFTN for her debut feature, and support from EIFF's Talent Lab (2018), Talent Lab Connects (2019), and the European development programme Less Is More (2020).

In 2024, her short film Kings of the Court premiered at Aesthetica. In 2025, Nora Can't Score - developed with support from BBC Film and the National Film & Television School as part of the inaugural cohort of the NFTS Sean Connery Talent Lab - premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Her work has screened at festivals around the world, including Encounters, Aesthetica, PÖFF, Oberhausen, and Fantasia. Her latest short-film, Un-Static, written by Natali McCleary, was made as part of Future Acts for National Theatre of Scotland and BBC Scotland.
