Ellie Steemson
About Ellie Steemson
After early adventures playing recorder and violin, Ellie discovered the saxophone aged 12 and never looked back. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she also had the opportunity to develop her woodwind doubling on clarinet and flute. This led to work in musical theatre, where she loves the variety and challenge of playing in a range of styles.
Ellie now enjoys a varied career performing in orchestras and backing bands alongside her musical theatre work. She regularly plays for the Glasgow King’s Theatre pantomime, tours in the UK and Europe with The Bootleg Beatles and provides cover for UK touring productions. Recent engagements include Chicago, Blood Brothers and 101 Dalmatians.
Ellie’s educational work is extremely important to her. She has held teaching posts at the University of St Andrews, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools, and currently runs her own private studio, Fife Sax School where she specialises in working with adult learners.
Ellie lives by the sea with her partner Kevin and cats, Rosie and Gizmo. She is delighted to be joining the company for this brand-new production of The High Life.
