Exchange 2012

July 2012

Overview

In partnership with Macrobert, Stirling

Now in its sixth year, Exchange Festival returns for a week-long festival of youth theatre, where the next generation of theatre-makers from Scotland and across the world presents a rich programme of devised pieces, inspired by and created in collaboration with some of today’s most accomplished theatre-makers.

Exchange 2012 presents eight brand new productions, created and performed by youth theatre companies from all over Scotland and, also this year, by visiting groups from Kildare, Ireland, and from Brooklyn, New York City.

Working closely with leading creatives, and given access to unique theatre master classes along the way, each group has been encouraged to explore new approaches and to take risks in their theatre-making.

Based at Macrobert in Stirling, 100 participants will continue to exchange ideas, share experiences and build relationships through further workshops and group exercises over the course of the week.

For audiences, the result of this seed-planting, cross-pollination and firing of imaginations is a programme of groundbreaking new work, with two groups each night unveiling their creations.

In addition, Thursday night offers an excellent double bill featuring two celebrated writers and performers, Gary McNair and Molly Taylor.

Join Exchange at Macrobert for an evening (or five) of fresh ideas and exciting new theatre, and catch up with the events of each day on Exchange TV – our dedicated highlights channel, produced by aspiring young filmmakers.
