Theatre in Schools Scotland (TiSS) is back on tour this term bringing inspiring live theatre and dance performances for children and young people into Primary Schools across the country.

First stop was St Crispin’s School in Edinburgh on 29 September with Buff and Sheen by MoonSlide. Created by artists Suzi Cunningham and Alex McCabe, Buff and Sheen is a comical roaming dance performance about two imaginative window cleaners performed outdoors through a closed window. Children join in with dance moves from the comfort of their familiar school spaces followed by a chance to play with soapy suds and dance with the performers in an outdoor space.

Buff and Sheen, created for pupils with additional support needs in mind, is touring schools for pupils with additional support needs in East Renfrewshire, Stirling, Dundee and Perth in October 2025.

A Home for Hamishby Just Us, presented by Scottish Theatre Producers, is a colourful, immersive, interactive adventure playfully merging dance and British Sign Language. Created by Deaf Dance Artist, Clare Adam and Autistic Dance Artist, Lesley Howard, the show follows May and their imaginary friend, Hamish the Haggis as they travel across Scotland in search of a perfect night’s sleep.

A Home for Hamish will be visiting schools in Moray, Aberdeenshire, Edinburgh, Shetland, Falkirk and Glasgow, in October and November 2025, with further touring in spring 2026.

“I’m very grateful our children had the opportunity to experience a theatre performance that was engaging and inspired their imagination. It opened up a world of self-expression and creativity outside of the digital culture.”

Julian Almeida, Theatre in Schools Scotland Project Manager said

“We are excited to be back on tour this school year bringing a programme of brilliant theatre and dance productions to pupils across Scotland. The opportunity for children to experience live performance, often for the first time, in their schools is invaluable. We are thrilled to be starting this autumn term with the return of Buff and Sheen, a show for children with additional support needs, and we look forward to touring A Home for Hamish and Lightning Ridge to schools from Orkney to Oban, offering pupils inspiring new creative experiences.”

TiSS continues to offer subsidised bookings to schools and create partnerships with local organisations ensuring live performance reaches schools not only in cities and towns but in remote and rural communities. The performance programme is available for schools to book anywhere in Scotland.

Theatre in Schools Scotland is produced by National Theatre of Scotland and Imaginate.
