Overview
'In search of our mothers gardens' is a short film written and directed by the interdisciplinary artist - Gillian Katungi.
Creating a soft inner world of abstract places and textures, audiences are immersed in a sensorial exploration of stories of love & humanity and connections to ancestors and the earth. A film that weaves together snippets of dreams, rituals and intergenerational conversation, the short film offers an explorative journey of roots in place, identity and a journey home to one's multiple selves over and over again. It invites viewers to remember their connection to the land, ourselves and others, using connection as a vehicle for personal and collective transformation.
The film will also accompany Gillian's debut album: ‘Metamorphosis: Feeling My Way (to Freedom)' - a record exploring healing, decoloniality and collective liberation.
