We are excited to announce two special In Conversation events to coincide with the upcoming tour of Maggie & Me, exploring the creation of the stage adaptation of Damian Barr’s celebrated memoir. The events mark the world premiere of the play as it embarks on tour this May and June.

On Wednesday 1st May, Damian Barr will be in conversation with Scottish arts and culture journalist Paul English at the Motherwell Library, in North Lanarkshire where he grew up.

On Thursday 6th June, Damian will be in conversation with celebrated journalist and author Chitra Ramaswamy at the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh. This event will also be live streamed and celebrates Pride month.

Damian will talking about the journey he undertook transforming his deeply personal memoir into a bold and explosive new production for the stage, and bringing that story to a new audience.

Published in 2013, Maggie & Me, Damian Barr’s celebrated memoir about growing up gay in Thatcher’s Britain, was named Sunday Times Memoir of the Year, awarded Paddy Power Political Satire Award and Barr was named Stonewall Writer of the Year.
