The cast appearing in extracts from a reading of Peter Arnott’s stage-adaptation in development of James Robertson’s novel And The Land Lay Still has been announced today. The extracts will be broadcast as part of a special online discussion event Talk Show: And The Land Lay Still presented by the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company and National Theatre of Scotland.

Ali Craig, Janette Foggo, Barrie Hunter, Lisa Livingstone, Tom McGovern and Phil McKee will be reading extracts from playwright Peter Arnott’s adaptation of the acclaimed novel, currently in development and presented by the National Theatre of Scotland.

Streaming online from Wednesday 5 May at 7.30pm until Friday 7 May 2021, Talk Show - And The Land Lay Still is an online discussion inspired by James Robertson’s award-winning novel and chaired by Lyceum Artistic Director David Greig. The evening of discussion and debate brings together playwright Peter Arnott, National Theatre of Scotland Dramaturg Rosie Kellagher, acclaimed journalist and writer Joyce McMillan, and author James Robertson, with music from award-winning folk artist Mairi Campbell and David Francis, director of the Traditional Music Forum alongside a selection of dramatic extracts.

The talk show will explore the themes of the novel, the changes in Scotland’s future, and the role art and imagination play in shaping this nation’s story.
