Zerlina firsy studied at Goldsmith College followed by a masters in Architectural Lighting at The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL. She is the founder and director of Studio ZNA, an architectural lighting design practice working across galleries and museums nationally and internationally.
Lighting for stage includes: Death In Venice, The Pleasure Man, The Father, and Oedipus at Citizen’s Theatre, Lights Shining in Buckinghamshire at the National Theatre; productions for Cheek by Jowl at the Lyric Hammersmith, Nottingham Playhouse, the Unicorn Theatre, Actors Touring Company, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, and Theatre Royal Stratford East.
She has worked at several international festivals in places such as Aix en Provence, Sydney Opera House, Aldeburgh Festival, Grange Park Opera, Off Broadway and London’s Southbank Centre.
She works regularly with the director/designer Stewart Laing, lighting include Dead Man Walking in Copenhagen, Faust, and La Vie Parisienne at Malmö Opera, Tosca at NorrlandsOperan – for which she won a Best Lighting Design Award (Sweden) during the Grange Park Opera Season – La Boheme and Cosi Fan Tutti for Scottish Opera, Ten Plagues for the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh Festival, and The End of Eddy at last years Edinburgh International Festival, currently touring internationally.
Other Opera includes, Tosca for Lille Opera. Cenerentola for Opera Champs Elysee, Daphne for Toulouse Opera, The Abduction of Seraglio for Opera North, Tosca for Opera Communale Bologna, Lakme for Malmö Opera.
For dance, Zerlina has worked with Choreographer Ben Wright on The Feeling of Going, The Summoning, and Inbetween Stillness and Silence at Skånes Dansteater, Ballet Boyz with Cathy Marston at Sadlers Wells, Theo Clinkard, and Ordinairy Courage – National Tour.
