Aberdeen Standard Investments

In 2019, we have entered a new sponsor partnership with Aberdeen Standard Investments to co-create a programme of activity reaching out to engage with those on the margins of society, addressing under-representation across Scotland and identifying and responding to the issues most urgently affecting young people in Scotland today.

In this first year, a portfolio of issue led projects will be targeted at young people together with a programme of specific schools activity which aims to address under-representation and social mobility.

These projects include:

Like Flying

Like Flying is a participatory project created to tackle mental well-being in teenagers. The project invites young people to learn to fly through aerial performance.  Partnering with Scottish Association for Mental Health, and working in schools in Edinburgh and East Ayrshire this 22-week project will collaborate with 12-16 year olds from a diversity of backgrounds.

Polmont Youth Theatre

As part of our Futureproof festival in 2018, a year-long drama project ran in HMYOI Polmont led by award winning theatre company Glas(s) Performance. The project resulted in Motion, an original performance created by the group exploring themes of masculinity and its impact on young men in Scotland today.

As a legacy, the support from Aberdeen Standard Investments has enabled the creation of Polmont Youth Theatre in partnership with Barnardos and Impact Arts and once again delivered by Glas(s) Performance.
