Sow, Grow, Reap

Projects

Sow, Grow, Reap is a community art project created by artist Rebecca Livesey-Wright using food growing, preparing and eating as metaphors for exploring care and time.

Working with clients, staff and volunteers at Possobilities in North Glasgow, Rebecca is exploring how growing cycles can be adapted to provide more flexibility to ‘seasonal’ growing to make engaging with food more approachable for people who live according to alternative timelines.

The first stage of the project is being spent gathering knowledge of time-cycles, mapping yearly repetitions and patterns such as birthdays and seasonal events and the sowing, planting and harvesting schedules of a range of vegetables.

Sow, Grow, Reap began in November 2024 and will finish in mid-summer 2025. Rebecca’s work is guided by principles of collaboration and social engagement so as yet, a final public outcome is not yet decided. Instead the group is focusing on learning together and finding collective rituals through caring for growing things.

Rebecca Livesey-Wright is a Develop Residency artist and is working in North Glasgow as part of our Neighbourhood Project.

This project culminates in a free sound installation in the garden of the Possobilities Centre
