About Simon Sharkey
Simon is Associate Director of National Theatre of Scotland and one of the original team of senior managers who founded the company. He leads the Learn department and is responsible for the large scale site specific productions the Company is synonymous with.
He has worked across the world and facilitates international cultural exchanges. He received a NESTA “International Leadership Fellowship” which was achieved with residencies in the Alexandria Library in Egypt and in Jordan, where he was involved in the setting up of the world cultural forum. He has forged new initiatives in America, Jamaica, Singapore, Jordan, Egypt, Trinidad and Europe and enjoys an international reputation as an innovator and practitioner who pushes the boundaries and definitions of theatre, particularly in participatory settings.
He has served on many boards, is a trainer, coach, mentor and adviser. Most recently he was Artistic Adviser to the Hull City of Culture “Land of Green Ginger” production.
