About Shonagh Murray
Shonagh Murray is a musical director and composer/writer hailing from Larkhall, South Lanarkshire. Now based in Glasgow, she graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a BA (Hons), specialising in contemporary and musical theatre vocals, before going on to gain her MA in Musical Directing from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2017. Shonagh is particularly passionate about exploring Scottish culture in theatrical settings and since graduating, has fuelled her interest in new writing by co-founding the theatre company Fearless Players in 2018. Fearless Players has produced her two musicals Armour: A Herstory of the Scottish Bard and Burns: A Lost Legacy at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2019. Both shows were nominated for Best New Musical and were awarded a special commendation for score composition by Musical Theatre Review. Shonagh has since worked with The Ayr Gaiety Theatre and Dundee Rep Theatre in the making of new musical pieces. Most recently, her piece Nessie was selected for Capital Theatres and Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s New Musical Commissioning Hub.
