Scottish actor Richard Rankin returned in his starring role as Roger Wakefield in the popular Starz / Amazon Prime series OUTLANDER, with Season 5 premiering in February 2020. Richard has starred in OUTLANDER since season 3 which aired in 2016. In 2019, Richard starred in BBC One’s 4-part dark medical thriller TRUST ME as Dr Alex Kiernan alongside Alfred Enoch, John Hannah and Ashley Jensen. Richard starred in BBC One’s psychological thriller THE REPLACEMENT in 2017 alongside Morven Christie and Vicky McClure to rave reviews. In 2016, Richard played DI Elliott Carne in THIRTEEN an original drama TV miniseries written by Marnie Dickens for the BBC. In 2015, Richard featured in BBC One dramas THE SYNDICATE and FROM DARKNESS in the UK, as well as political thriller AMERICAN ODDYSEY on NBC in the US. His role as Captain Thomas Gillan in the BBC One war drama THE CRIMSON FIELD was taken stateside which aired on PBS in 2015, and Richard also appeared in John Wells’ feature film BURNT in 2015. Previous television roles include: BURNISTOUN; SILENT WITNESS; and LEGIT. Theatre roles include: the Laurence Olivier winning play BLACK WATCH (Barbican/Tour); BRUISES (Royal Court); GOOD WITH PEOPLE (Traverse Theatre); LIEUTENANT OF INISHMORE (Citizens Theatre); THE PILLOWMAN (Citizens Theatre); and MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS GOT HER HEAD.
