About Jamie Wardrop
Jamie Wardrop is a Glasgow based digital artist and designer originally from Stirling, Scotland. He commonly works in mediums such as video design, projection mapping, composing, filmmaking, 3d animation, lighting, installation art and live video or vjing. He started his career as an actor where he trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and has gone on create work with major Scottish venues, theatre and dance companies. He has toured internationally with his collaborative style of work to the Palestinian National Theatre, Open The Door Festival, Katowice - Poland and Sura Medura, Sri Lanka.
Other recent design collaborations include work with Marc Brew Company, Angus Farqhuar, Cora Bisset, Harry Josephine Giles for Drone and Made In Scotland, Tron Theatre, Barrowland Ballet and Peter McMaster
His critically acclaimed immersive theatre performance/installation about Scottish identity The Dwelling Place has toured to Eden Court, Hidden Door Festival, Cryptic Nights, Lyth Arts Centre, BanchoryArts and Summerhall for the Edinburgh Fringe.
In his work as VJ or video jockey he has created live visuals and animation for artists such as Lewis Capaldi, Basement Jaxx,Simple Minds, Gerry Cinnamon, Amy MacDonald, Capercaillie, and for T In The Park Main Stage (with a 20 piece orchestra to commemorate the passing of Prince and David Bowie) . For Edinburgh Hogmanay he projection mapped the Bank of Scotland HQ for the world famous street party.
In 2021 he has filmed The Paisley Suites - 3 new filmed monologues about LGBTQI+ history by Scottish writers for Outspoken Arts, directed by Mary McLuskey; Peter and the Wolf generative visuals for young deaf audiences for Children's Classic Concerts; Scottish Playwrights Studio on a new work for Garry Robson, experimental film for the ecologically minded UNFIX Festival; new film works for Simon Community Glasgow, Nevis Ensemble and Ten Feet Tall.
In 2020 he worked at Mull Theatre as Director of Photography and Lighting Designer on Emergence a series of critically acclaimed new theatre productions for film. He toured to Frankfurt with Shrimp Dance for Winterweft Festival and Cardiff to work with 4Pi productions on a theatre residency in their immersive VR Dome.
