About Ivor Macaskill
Ivor MacAskill (he/they) is a queer, trans, neurodivergent live artist and theatre-maker based in Glasgow, UK.
He creates award-winning original performances and encounters for both children and adults. The work is humorous and playful, aiming to make the familiar strange in a range of contexts. He is known in Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) as one half of The Polar Bears, whose trilogy of shows aimed at under 5s have been touring internationally since 2011. He has been an associate artist with Imaginate who supported his Gendersaurus Rex project exploring gender and queerness in work for children, which led to him being lead artist in the EU-funded PUSH Lab.
He also collaborates as a director, dramaturg, performer and consultant with a range of other artists and has an ongoing practice with his partner, Rosana Cade, as Cade & MacAskill. Their most recent work is The Making of Pinocchio, an imperfect trans allegory responding to the desire to be real, which premiered in its digital version at Take Me Somewhere festival in May 2021, supported by Creative Scotland; Tramway - Glasgow; Fierce - Birmingham; Kampnagel - Hamburg; Mousonturm - Frankfurt; Vooruit - Ghent.
