About Fraser Hume
Although now established on the Edinburgh music scene as a keyboardist, trumpeter and vocalist, Fraser found his penchant for singing relatively late, joining his first choir at high school in 2009. He built on this and gained more experience and confidence singing with local jazz groups in some of the most prestigious venues in the city. Upon enrolling at the University of Aberdeen in 2011, this passion led to him to form the university’s A Cappella Society alongside other like-minded students. Here, he developed an enthusiasm for vocal percussion techniques and consequently vocal technique. It was then that he started giving workshops in vocal percussion and A Cappella singing to local schools and choirs.
When he graduated and returned to Edinburgh in 2015, Fraser began performing with Tone Up, a newly formed A Cappella group at the University of Edinburgh and one that he still performs with to date. With this group, he became a decorated vocal percussionist, soloist and arranger in the UK A Cappella community, leading the group to consecutive ICCA UK Final appearances in 2019 and 2020 and 1st place at the Scottish A Cappella Championship in 2020. In 2019, Fraser also made his debut in a stage show in ‘Popstars: The 90s Musical’ with local amateur musical group, Allegro.
