About Claire Eliza Willoughby
Claire Eliza Willoughby is a theatre maker, musician and performer based in Glasgow. Claire was a member of the National Youth Theatre before training in clown with Angela de Castro and at Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Paris. She is particularly driven to create work that is playful, dark and visually stimulating and is a Jerwood Fellow with Imaginate and Oily Cart for 2020 / 2021.
Claire has worked with Catherine Wheels, Magnetic North and Liz Carr amongst others. She is a founding member of collective Snap – Elastic, and will be working on their new shows EAT ME and My Heart Is A Hospital over the next year. My Heart Is a Hospital is a cabaret for young people about illness, wellness and the concept of "better" and was initially developed through National Theatre of Scotland's Starter Residency last year. EAT ME was originally created as part of a Tron Lab, with further development at Nordland Visual Theatre and has just received funding from Creative Scotland to premiere at manipulate festival 2021.
