About Andy Manley
Andy is a theatre artist who specialises in creating performances for young audiences. He started to make his own work in 2006. Before that he was an actor.
Andy’s work tours extensively to UK and international venues and festivals. His work for young audiences includes: White, Martha, Kappa, The Ballad of Pondlife McGurk with Catherine Wheels Theatre Company;Potato Needs a Bath, HUFF with Shona Reppe; Little Light and My House with Starcatchers; Rudolf and Mikey and Addie with Macrobert Arts Centre.
Recent works include: Black Beauty (2016), created with Shona Reppe, Andy Cannon and Ian Cameron with Red Bridge Arts and the Traverse Theatre. It was nominated for 5 CATS awards and won Best Design and Best Show for Children and Young People. Night Light (2017) a new show with Teater Refleksion, Denmark and Red Bridge Arts, commissioned by the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival and performed as part of the 2017 festival. Stick by Me, a new show for 3-6 year olds, commissioned and premiered at Gulbenkian’s Boing Festival in 2017.
His directing credits include work for Catherine Wheels, Scottish Opera, Glyndebourne, Macrobert Arts Centre, M6 Theatre Company, Polka Theatre, Barneteatret Vart (Norway), Theater o.N and Theater Junge Generation (Germany).
In 2012 he was awarded a Herald Archangel for his work in children’s theatre.
