About Andy Arnold
Andy became Artistic Director of Tron Theatre in 2008 following many years as Artistic Director of The Arches, a venue and theatre company he personally established in 1991. Early productions Andy staged for Tron Theatre Company include The Drawer Boyby Michael Healey, the Scottish premiere of That Faceby Polly Stenham, Valhallaby Paul Rudnick (UK premiere), and world premieres of Sea and Land and Skyby Abigail Docherty, Plumeby Jodie Marshall, Edwin Morgan’s Dreams and Other Nightmaresby Liz Lochhead, and Shall Roger Casement Hang? by Peter Arnott. He directed the world premier stage production of James Joyce’s Ulysses adapted by Dermot Bolger which eventually toured major cities in China. As a result, Andy has gone on to stage work in mandarin with Chinese theatre companies in Beijing and in Shanghai.
More recently he has directed Gary McNair's adaption of Ben Jonson's The Alchemist, Enda Walsh’s Ballyturk, Martin McCormick’s Ma, Pa and the Little Mouths, Megan Barker’s adaptation of Ibsen’s Ghosts, Stephen Adly Guirgis’ The Motherf**ker with the Hat, Martin McDonagh’s The Lonesome West, Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days with Karen Dunbar, a new adaptation by John Byrne of Chekhov’s Three Sisters, another Byrne work Colquhoun and MacBryde, as well as a devised Off Kilter with Ramesh Meyyappan and a promenade show celebrating absurdism called Nowhere.
