Transform Orkney: Mixter Maxter

Transform Orkney: Mixter Maxter

Devised and performed by Kirkwall Grammar School students along with local artists, community members and a resident creative team, the event unfolds across two venues on the longest weekend of the year.

In the heart of Kirkwall, audiences are invited to explore interactive artworks in Warehouse 18, a disused building temporarily transformed into an exciting arts venue. The results of collaboration between Kirkwall Grammar School students, sculptor Anne Bevan and photographer Alistair Peebles feature alongside video, sound and live performance.

A few blocks away, King Street Halls plays host to a live performance of intimate storytelling and fearless physical theatre, with live music led by Aimee Leonard of The Big Orkney Song Project. A moving and humorous story of disappearance and reconciliation exploring the mixter-maxter of contemporary Orcadian identity, this is a unique National Theatre of Scotland event not to be missed.
