Making An Approach
Our primary aim is to be a “theatre for everyone”. With that in mind we commission and curate each annual programme of productions against a broad range of diverse priorities that consider audiences, artistic voices and artform.
As a result, no one annual programme will ever look the same or deliver against every priority, to ensure that over cycles of more than one year we can present a diverse and exciting programme for everyone.
If you would like to approach the National Theatre of Scotland with an idea for research and development or theatre production opportunities, or other partnership collaborations, please email details about your request to firstname.lastname@example.org (please note that all approaches sent to individual staff members will also be forwarded to the new approaches email address).
In the first instance your approach will be considered by the Artistic Team on the basis of the quality of, and our excitement about, the idea and the track record of the artist/company, together with whether the project fits with current programme priorities, programme gaps, available resource and timescale, for initial feasibility.
Please be sure to include the following information when contacting us, to allow us to consider and respond to your request as soon as possible:
· Artist/Company Name
· Project Name
· Project Overview
· Artists, venues, partners attached
On receipt of your email, you will receive confirmation from the Project Manager (Artistic Development) who may request additional information from you before your proposal is submitted to the Artistic Team.
If your project is something that we feel we can support in some way, we will connect you with the staff member best placed to move your request forward.
It is unlikely that we will prioritise ideas from artists/companies whose work we are not familiar with for R&D and production opportunities. Therefore if you wish to build a relationship with us before submitting a proposal, please do so via our artist development programme Engine Room, by submitting to our Script Reading Programme, or by keeping us informed of any upcoming productions/showcases where you might be presenting work by emailing email@example.com
