Scenes for Survival | Clearing

12 Jun 2020

News Story

A new short piece from writer Morna Pearson, performed by Ashleigh More and directed by Cameron Mowat.

When the lockdown comes into force a teenage girl finds herself torn between isolating with each of her separated parents. She seeks solace in the nearby woods, a place where she can escape from the worries of her day-to-day life.

Produced by National Theatre of Scotland, in association with BBC Scotland, Screen Scotland, BBC Arts’ Culture in Quarantine project and Aberdeen Performing Arts, with support from Hopscotch Films.

"I wrote Clearing in the first week of lockdown, inspired by the lack of clarity from the UK Government’s televised messages. I wanted to explore what this period of time might be like for a child from a non-nuclear family, who struggles to find somewhere to call home."
