News Story

Stuffy, dependable, unsurprising Mark is exactly the kind of guy who’ll go far in his mundane office job. But secretly he yearns to escape his boring life and become someone new. Maybe handsome co-worker Austin feels the same way... Will today be the day he finally has the guts to say how he really feels? Lawrence Smith, Ronan Burns, and Laura Lovemore star in an uplifting musical short from writer Finn Anderson, directed by Sally Reid.

Produced by the National Theatre of Scotland, in association with BBC Scotland, Screen Scotland, BBC Arts’ Culture in Quarantine project and Perth Theatre with support from Hopscotch Films.

"This is a challenging time for theatre - and everyone - but I believe strongly that when we come out the other side of this, theatre and storytelling is going to be more vital than ever. In the meantime, it is a delight to be part of this digital project with NTS alongside a stellar list of writers and theatre artists. I’m excited to create a short piece of online musical theatre that can bring some joy to housebound theatregoers across Scotland in these crazy times."

Finn Anderson, Writer

"I am delighted to be working with NTS on Scenes for Survival. It is so vital to continue to bring theatre into peoples lives at a difficult time such as this, and diversifying your way of working to accommodate that is so thrilling to be a part of."

Sally Reid, Director
