Hannah Lavery

Hannah Lavery has had commissions from Edinburgh University and Greater Glasgow NHS. She was awarded a Tom McGrath Playwriting Grant in 2015 and a Megaphone Residency from The Workers’ Theatre in 2017.

She has had stories, poems and blogs published by Gutter Magazine, The Scottish Book Trust, 404 ink, Postbox Press and other publications, and has had two short plays read at the Traverse Theatre as part of Words, Words, Words. The script of, The Drift, will be published with Stewed Rhubarb Press in December 2018.

Hannah has a HNC in Acting and Performance and is an experienced performer. She has been part of many spoken word nights including, Rally and Broad, Flint and Pitch, Sonnet Youth, Chill Habibi and has also performed at Electric Fields, CoastWord, the Gutter Magazine Party, Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival and the Solas Festival. She has also been part of two long form spoken word shows at the Edinburgh Fringe as well as having two of her plays performed as rehearsed readings.

Hannah founded CoastWord in 2012 and has been its creative director ever since. She is a former Secondary School English teacher and is currently Scottish Poetry Library’s Engagement Coordinator.
