Are you based in Scotland and writing a new musical or dreaming a dream of starting one? Then why not come along to a relaxed, welcoming evening of connection, creativity, and new musical theatre. Whether you're a writer, performer, musical director, or simply passionate about new musical work, this is a chance to share what you’re working on, meet fellow artists, and spark potential new collaborations.

Hosted by Gus Gowland, National Theatre of Scotland’s Cameron Mackintosh Composer in Residence.

Time: 7.00 – 9.00pm

We’ll kick off with a short welcome and sharing of some new work by Gus, followed by open mic sharings, before wrapping up the evening with informal networking and mingling over drinks.

Open Mic Slots

You can sign up to attend, or to share around 5 minutes of something you're working on. We have 10 performance slots available which will be selected at random from all who apply.

Registration to apply for a slot to perform/attend the evening closes on Sunday 31 August 2025. If you’re selected for a slot, we’ll let you know by Wednesday 3 September 2025.


Please note: An electric keyboard with a microphone, two additional microphones (with stands), music stands and an amp for other instruments will be provided. Please come ready to plug in and play!


Practical Information

This is a free event, but spaces are limited, so please apply in advance to secure your spot.

Refreshments will be provided, and we encourage you to stay and chat with fellow attendees after the sharings. It’s a great chance to connect with others making new musical theatre in Scotland.

Travel bursaries are available to support attendance for those based more than 25 miles away from Rockvilla.
