There are eight spaces for wheelchairs in the Stalls. (Please note: you must bring your own wheelchair). One free ticket for the companion of a wheelchair user.

We have a sound enhancement system in the auditorium. Using a headset (with or without a hearing aid) you can boost the volume of the performance. Headsets are bookable at the Box Office, which has an induction loop.

Guide, hearing and other working dogs are welcome in all parts of the theatre.

There is an accessible toilet on all levels of the theatre.

There are two parking spaces for Blue Badge Holders on Shakespeare St. and three spaces on Hood St. Most parking meters are free to Blue Badge Holders.

There is lift access to all levels of the theatre.

One free ticket for the companion of a customer who is unable to attend an event unaccompanied. Patrons will be asked to produce a CEA card as proof of eligibility. Please note, if patrons are booking a Wheelchair space, they do not require a CEA card.


The theatre is in the heart of Newcastle, easily accessible by public transport and with a number of car parks close by.


John Dobson Street car park is open 24hrs, New Bridge St to 10pm, Dean St and Quayside to midnight. There is free on-street parking in Grey Street after 6.30pm and free parking after 5.00pm in selected car parks in association with NE1 – click here for more information. Please note Dean St car park sometimes has a long wait time on exit.

Alight at Monument Metro Station and follow the signs for the Theatre Royal. We are less than one minute's walk from the Metro entrance on Grey Street.

Travel free on the Metro with your theatre ticket (up to two hours before and after the performance) - simply retain your theatre ticket for inspection by Metro Staff.

New Smart Card System: At stations with ticket gates in operation, show your ticket to the member of Metro staff on duty at the gates.
