Venue Facilities

Food and Drink at the National Theatre

There is a great choice of places to eat and drink at the National Theatre. Restaurants, cafés and bars can be found throughout the building, most with al fresco seating overlooking the vibrant South Bank. Seasonal and best quality ingredients are used to create a wide range of food and drink.

The National Theatre is on the South Bank, just minutes from Covent Garden, the West End and Waterloo. The front entrances are on the riverside walkway.

We strongly recommend that you travel to the National by public transport if you can, especially at the weekend: there are temporarily fewer spaces in the car park beneath the building.

If you need to come by car, dropping off guests at ground level will be difficult so please go straight to the car park if possible.

Blue Badge holders and those with access requirements can be dropped off at the top of Theatre Avenue (the road between the British Film Institute and the National Theatre), where a temporary accessible entrance has been created, before parking in the car park; there will be a very limited number of spaces for oversized vehicles only above ground. The avenue to the east of the National and Blue Badge riverfront parking is now closed to the public due to heavy construction traffic (other than vehicles exiting the car park).

Taxis should be encouraged to drop off behind the South Bank Centre, a few metres to the west of the National Theatre, to avoid congestion.

The entrance ramp to the car park has been permanently relocated to Theatre Avenue. Until NT Future works are completed, temporary signage will be used to make the new entrance as clear as possible. Please note that the exit ramp will remain in its original position.

We recognise this may cause difficulty for some people; and are grateful for your understanding while these vital works are completed.
