Alasdair Macrae

Alasdair Macrae is an actor, musician, composer, musical director, sound designer and part-time beard wearer.

Previous work for National Theatre of Scotland includes; Midsummer (EIFF 2018), The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart, The James Plays (EIFF/NTGB 2014), Calum’s Road, Tall Tales for Dark Nights, Tin Forest (Govan), Peter Pan, Gobbo, Home (Caithness)

Other work includes; Twelfth Night (Bristol Old Vic/Royal Lyceum), Cockpit (Royal Lyceum), Gastronauts (Royal Court), The Cheviot, the Stag and the Black, Black Oil (Dundee Rep and tour), An Appointment with Dr Johnson (Play, Pie, Pint), Invisible Man, Lost Ones, Subway, Interiors, The Beggar’s Opera (Vanishing Point), The Government Inspector, Fergus Lamont (Communicado), Homers (Traverse), Our Bad Magnet (Tron), The Water Babies, The Selfish Giant, Little Red Riding Hood (Arches Theatre Company).

Film work includes Wild Rose (dir. Tom Harper).

His music appeared on Radio 4’s ‘The Fair Intellectuals’ Club’ and ‘Edinburgh at the Year’s Midnight’ both directed by Marilyn Imrie.

And he is the face and voice of Scotch Beef.

His debut album ‘Popstardombeckons’ is available on most digital platforms.
