The National Theatre of Scotland works with the best of Scottish and international talent to promote world class theatre. It aims to develop a sustainable and diverse audience, engaging with communities across Scotland and beyond by creating a touring body of work.
From its first performances in February 2006, the Company has rapidly established a growing reputation for exhilarating work across all scales and types of venue including site specific.

Black Watch

Viewed through the eyes of those on the ground, Black Watch reveals what it means to be part of the legendary Scottish regiment, what it means to be part of the war on terror and what it means to make the journey home again.
Black Watch has played to tens of thousands of people across three continents and has garnered 22 awards. Most recently, the production won four Laurence Olivier Awards and the National Theatre of Scotland won its first US award with the New York Drama Critics Circle naming Black Watch Best Foreign Play.

Calum's Road

The remarkable true story of one man's single-minded determination to challenge the powers-that-be and, alone, with a pick, a shovel and a wheelbarrow to build a road that will connect up his island, and keep his family - and community - together.
Based on Roger Hutchison’s elegiac novel of the same name, Scottish playwright David Harrower offers audiences the richly detailed and unhurried description of a dying way of life in Northern Raasay.
