PHOTOGRAPHER IN RESIDENCE UPDATE

21/07/10

The National Theatre of Scotland in association with the Herald and the Sunday Herald recently completed a nationwide search for someone to become the National Theatre of Scotland’s first resident photographer.

The results of that search, which drew close to 177 applications, will be published in the Sunday Herald, 25th July 2010.

All 177 submitted their 5 favourite images including one portrait shot, one picture of a live event and an action shot.

These 177 were whittled down to a shortlist of 5 by the Picture Editor of the Sunday Herald, The Editor of the Sunday Herald,  award-winning Scottish photographer David Eustace, and the National Theatre of Scotland.

The five finalists were all invited for interview and an opportunity to show their portfolio to David Eustace.

The 12 month residency was open to professional photographers across Scotland, with a prize of a £5,000 contract with the National Theatre of Scotland.

The residency offers the opportunity to gain exclusive access to actors, backstage activity and the touring life of the Company and to contribute to the vital legacy and archive of the work of Scotland’s national theatre.

Capturing exclusive images, the work will be used in the Herald and National Theatre of Scotland publicity materials, including posters, programmes and the website.

The photographs will also be used to form part of an exhibition to celebrate five years of the National Theatre of Scotland in 2011.
