Roll up! Roll up! The Carnival of Unfortunate Stories is in town!

Join us for an unforgettable evening of entertainment filled with tall tales, songs, music and performance.

Led by a creative team from the National Theatre of Scotland, The Carnival of Unfortunate Stories is devised and performed by Elgin High School students, with contributions from local community members.

This exciting theatre event will unfold in the mesmerising, mirrored pavilion of the Moulin Rouge Spiegeltent. In the early twentieth century Spiegeltents brought alternative worlds of fantasy, glamour and escapism to towns across Europe. A travelling dance hall, music and entertainment salon, a Spiegeltent was the ultimate symbol of European cabaret nightlife - the domain of night owls, heartbreakers and dream chasers…

Inspired by spooky local tales and accounts from the dark history of the Elgin witchcraft trials, The Carnival of Unfortunate Stories presents a collection of popular myths mixed with personal stories of good and evil and love and war from the people of New Elgin.

Directed by Graham McLaren and involving over 80 students from Elgin working on performance, music, design, circus skills and stage management, The Carnival of Unfortunate Stories promises to captivate, amuse and thrill audiences.

Recommended for ages 10 and over.
